Aerides odorata is an epiphytic orchid species native to Southeast Asia. It is renowned for its pleasant fragrance and delicate flowers, typically white with a pink or purple center. This orchid thrives in humid and warm conditions, typical of tropical forests. It is usually found attached to trees, where it can receive plenty of light but no direct sun. The flowers grow on long pendulous inflorescences and generally bloom in summer. The leaves are thick and fleshy, typical of orchids adapted to environments where water can be irregular. Despite its beauty, Aerides odorata is quite robust and can be successfully cultivated with proper care.
