The Cattleya maxima is an orchid native to the humid tropical forests of Ecuador, where it grows at altitudes of 500 to 1500 metres, on rocks or on trees. It is valued for its pleasant fragrance and its generous flowering in the autumn.

Bright light, intermediate conditions, medium humidity, watering spaced out, letting the mix dry in between. Large, it is grown potted and suits beginners. It flowers in autumn. Its flowers are fragrant.
