Ornithocephalus gladiatus var. bonplandii is a rare miniature orchid native to South America. Its small, elongated leaves, arranged in a fan shape, create an elegant and compact foliage. It produces numerous very delicate greenish-white flowers, gathered in delicate clusters reminiscent of a bird's head, which is the origin of its name Ornithocephalus. The term gladiatus evokes the sword-like shape of the leaves, while bonplandii pays homage to the French naturalist Aimé Bonpland.
It enjoys medium light, intermediate conditions, medium humidity and semi-dry watering. Miniature, it is grown potted and asks for a little experience. It lends itself to terrarium culture.
