Phalaenopsis tetraspis is a botanical species from the Nicobar Islands and Sumatra, known for its unstable colouring: on a single spike, one flower may open pure white, the next barred with brick red, a third washed entirely in red. The flowers are waxy, star-shaped, lightly fragrant, and follow one another on the same spike for years. Its distinctive trait: never cut the spike after flowering — that is the one that will rebloom.
