Phalaenopsis violacea is a botanical species from Malaysia and Sumatra, among the most fragrant of the genus: a spicy, citrus scent, strongest in the morning. Its waxy star-shaped flowers open one or two at a time on a short spike, held low against the broad, fleshy leaves. The Indigo ‘Red’ line is selected for its deep, saturated purple. The spike reblooms year after year — it should not be cut.
